'Winter Displacement' is an unanticipated counterpoint to the second Sleepbuilding broadcast from 2022 - 'A Small Fire in the Snowy Woods' - which collects two deep variations of the source material by Downscope and Coppice Halifax.
Although there has been re-visitation and reprocessing of Sleepbuilding material prior to this, until now it has always remained beatless, and 'Winter Displacement' offers an Impressionistic deep techno perspective on the seemingly endless and generative Milieu session at its core.
Additionally, it is worth noting that this is the first new Coppice Halifax work to be published since 2023's 'Blue Cloak' (discounting of course the extensive experimental session work at Deep Earth, which remains a separate pocket universe of music all its own), likely owing to the fact that 'Watch the Head' and the Sleepbuilding series largely consumed my creative energy for most of 2023. With this new piece, the hope is that more CH recordings can and will continue as the year moves on, but I can never tell where or when things will happen, so we will just have to wait and see.
In any case, I am grateful to Downscope for having taken the time to explore his curiosities within the framework of my Milieu broadcast, and I appreciate his patience while I worked out the best way to present this variation to you, as it is already almost a year old now. I think 'Winter Displacement' is a perfect companion to the gradually warming Winter weather as Spring creeps in, and it is my first non-beatless work of the '24 year, so I hope you'll join us here at our small camp in the cold woods, waiting on the sun to come up.
