Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

This is one of only two copies in existence of the "inkjet aberration" print edition of Five Glass Temples. It is signed and numbered 2/2, with 1/2 remaining with the artist. It is being offered as a one of a kind artifact for collectors only, with the cost of the object being put towards the acquisition of a new modular cabinet. The cover is one of two variations accidentally generated during the printing process for the third Vibratelepathos box set, and the copy offered here differs from the one scanned for the digital cover, but only slightly. No returns, exchanges or refunds will be offered with this item.

about

'Five Glass Temples' collects modest edits of the first five published 'Glass Temple' sessions in the Vibratelepathos catalog. These pieces were recorded on various dates, ranging from January 2021 to Autumn 2023, but all of them have been composed and generated with the same machine, using the same methodology.

That machine is the perennially unique Arturia Microfreak, a four-voice paraphonic digital synthesizer with an analog filter, a digital patching matrix and a varied pool of available voices and operational modes. Among those, I have spent a considerable amount of time building what I have labeled "Genergan" patches in shorthand - generative organ configurations, designed so that one only need to pick a single starting key on the keyboard, and the Genergan will do the rest.

These patches generally rely on very slow modulation to move between two or three chordal forms, sourced from novel waveform envelopes that behave somewhat like a traditional sample and hold, but do not change quite as much. This results in the sound of a languorous organist, perhaps hesitant in the hand's next movement, feeling his way through a piece timbrally rather than melodically. The "Glass" in the session header assigned to these recordings is a nod to Philip Glass, whose work was a big influence on my listening mind in formative years, especially with the organ.

'Glass Temple' sessions have unexpectedly become some of my favorite sessions in my Vibratelepathos catalog, and are frequently mentioned in conversations with others who follow the series, and so when my printer drew some interesting gaps in the "faceplate" design for the Vibratelepathos box set, due to an error, it struck me in such a way that I thought it would be an opportune moment to assemble some of my favorite sessions and use this accidental "design" as a vehicle for a sampler of those recordings. Between the surrealistic arches in the print gaps, perhaps resembling a structure outlined on a landscape with a bursting sun behind it, and my fondness for the Genergan sessions, 'Glass Temple' was an easy choice.

I hope you enjoy the five excerpts I've plotted out here as much as I have. They each derive from a much longer work - the third one runs for over five hours alone - but I also feel they constitute a coherent album when presented in this way, and perhaps offer an accessible entry point to the now 81 sessions deep Vibra catalog, for a newcomer.

"Go then - there are other worlds than these"
