A third unexpected session constructing new shapes from two cassettes recorded in 2016-2017 (with assistance from John-Paul Kramer, designed for the purpose of subsequent live sound-collage performances) using a Tascam 414 multitrack tape machine, by playing them back at a much slower IPS (inches per second) speed on a Vesta Fire MR-10B multitrack tape machine, and routing them into the R-EW Audioholistics modular system.

One of the darkest Vibra sessions to date, RUSTED ONYX COMPASS offers a barren landscape without landmarks, blown empty by sour winds and purple radiation from a collapsing sun. Somewhere in the distance, the sound of metal being dragged across stone echoes, punctuated occasionally by higher pitched whines and bowed resonation, wafting up from some smoking ravine we're lucky to not be able to see. This piece was primarily designed as a companion to re-reading Wayne Douglas Barlowe's unique and fascinating novel about Hell, "God's Demon," and bears an optional disclaimer: RUSTED ONYX COMPASS may not be suitable for sleeping or meditation, and subscribers are encouraged to take this into consideration when listening.

This piece has also been mastered for lower level playback than the typical Vibra recording, and works best on headphones or playback within quieter physical spaces.
